Spring School

May 3 - 8 2009 Athabasca Hall, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon

Springs School is put on by the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour and provides training for new and old union activist's.

A motion was passed to send up to 7 members on a first come first serve basis.

Area Council
All Saskatchewan CEP Locals get together twice a year to discuss issues. 

Local 2-s generally sends a minimum of 2 delegates to attend this meeting.  The delegates, chosen from the executive members represents our local and are able to vote on resolutions that come up during the course of the conference.

 

CEP Training Courses in Saskatoon
Twice a year CEP National provides training sessions to all CEP locals in Saskatchewan. These training sessions are held in Saskatoon and Regina in the Spring and in the Fall.

The Fall Session in Saskatoon is being held on To be announced

The current training sessions provided include:

  • Steward 1
  • Steward 2
  • Local Officer 1
  • Local Officer 2
  • Financial Officer
  • Basic Collective Bargaining
  • Union Judo

Other courses are being developed such as public speaking, facing management, health and safety, rules of order, fighting harassment, our rights as unionists, my union and strike preparation.

CEP Young Workers Conferance

June 4 - 7 Algonquin College, Ottawa, Ontario

This conference is designed for young workers under the age of 30. The goal is to encourage young workers to become more aware of the labour movement and become active in the Local and National Union. 

A motion at the Jan/09 meeting approved up to 3 members to attend to be offered first to members of the youth committee and if positions are available then to the youth members at large
